Happy Birthday Leia

An early birthday present to Leia, as she and her mother will be in Florida (Tyndal Air Force Base), visiting her dad for her birthday. As I understand, Chris has a party planned for her and her little friends.

Critters that crawl out of the river

Scroungy, old muddy snapping turtle - was crawling down the driveway in front of the house.....I was afraid somebody would come in and run over him, so I picked him up carefully at each side of his shell and took him back down to the river where he belonged. Funny, but he barely peeped out in front - I guess to see where he was going - and when I got to the river bank, he literally jumped and landed with a splash way out in the water.

Little Visitor

I've been watching this little fella for sometime - he is just about half-grown.....comes to the front yard and nibbles on clover - but I could never get close enough to him for a picture. As soon as I barely touched the front door to open it, he would scamper away. We haven't had any rabbits on the farm for several years, or at least we haven't seen any - too many coyotes, so he is a pleasure to watch. Come to think of it, haven't seen any coyotes for sometime - maybe they have moved on. Hope so.

"Railroad Days", 2009

Andy's Railcar buddies give rides each year at North Vernon's Railroad Days. They bring them in on trailers, unload onto tracks and they are off........

Summertime at Woods Branch Farm

Little pears have set on. The trees are full of fruits........but the deer get most of the crops.

The Chestnut Trees are in bloom - funny looking, frond-like blooms that give off a horrible odor - can smell them all over the valley.

The Soybean field has turned green - all planted and growing.

The Old Farmhouse - built in the late 1800's - has withstood many storms, but this last one almost did her in. Blew out windows and a lot of the clapboards off, but we refurbished her one more time. Still shining in all her glory!

A patch of wild daisies growing at the back of the old farm house. I have kinda weeded around them over the years - so they bloom just for me.

A Patch of Peppermint growing at the edge of the Branch........a pinch is wonderful in tea!

"Bear"...... getting her daily Branch Bath.....Like I said before, she can't pass up a water hole, but hugs the porch when it rains.

In bloom - a mis-mash of flowers and "stuff"......
