Snippets from the Farm - Summer, 2010

My Goodness - where did the summer go? Have neglected posting happenings from the farm - the time just seemed to slip by.

Drinking my morning coffee, looked out the window and saw this beautiful sunrise - grabbed my camera and hoped it would all stand still for just a second.

Swimming at "The Island" here at the Farm.....Mark, Ashley and Bob. The water is shallow up there with a rock bottom - has been a favorite place over the years to swim and play.

The County Fair....... Guess Andy is trying to make a farmer out of Mark - bought him a goat and Mark showed it at the fair. He got his first fair ribbon. Memories......

The Mall......I decided to clean out the old farm house, and take some of the "stuff" to the "76 Antique Mall" and try to get rid of it. So far, I haven't made a dent in the "stuff", but have sold a bunch. Kinda takes up all the spare time - I count on the whimsies to pay the expense, and they are - only thing, kinda keeps me busy trying to keep up.

And then there were swim lessons. Mark, Bob and Ashley all were taking lessons together, and are doing quite well. Bob - well, that is another story.....He wasn't so sure about it all, and wouldn't let loose of his instructor. But maybe he was using some strategy, as he had his own private instructor every day. But it was fun.

In between mowing grass and trying to keep up with everything, I made a Santa for a customer who has donkeys. She had asked me several months ago to make her one - wants it for her Christmas Centerpiece. He was fun to make, and turned out different. They all have their own personality......

Birthdays - a snippet of a couple of them.

The Persimmon Trees are full - but still green. Persimmons are not good to eat until they fall off the tree - don't know why, but they are so puckerish that even the deer leave them alone.

Tried to get a picture of the pear tree - it is absolutely full, but some GIANT bees literally ran me away, so couldn't get any closer. Will pick some of the pears soon - they have to be picked while still green and let ripen inside. You will notice all the bare brances below - the deer eat everything they can reach, including the leaves.

The field of corn is about ready to pick. We had all this rain earlier in the summer, so it looks like a bumper crop......

The Fall Weeds are in full bloom in front of the old farm house. We keep the grass mowed, but there is a stopping place (thank goodness).

The roses have tried themselves here at the house - in spite of the dry weather this late summer.
