O.K., Laura, here is one of the family's favorite cookie recipes

Start out with 1/2 Cup room temperature butter, 1/2 Cup White Sugar, 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar and one egg.....Ashley is carfefully cracking an egg in a cup, so as not to get any shell in the dough.......Mix well in the mixer.

Add 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter - (smooth or crunchy)

Add 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt....also a splash of vanilla.....

Pinch off a little amount of dough - about the size of a walnut, roll out in your hands and place on the cookie sheet - leaving space enough for the cookie to expand as it bakes......

Ready for the oven - cookies all rolled out and pressed down with a fork dipped in sugar.....

Just out of the oven - 350 for 10 minutes......

Aha.....Nothing like a fresh crisp cookie just out of the oven and an ice cold glass of milk.

We do need rain

Louisville is telling us this has been the driest September on record. We are all conscious of fire danger. Woods Branch has completely dried up - have never seen it this dry - this long - since we have been on the farm, 45 years.

The Muscatatuck is pretty and green - they have let water down from the reservoir 7 times for the City Water Supply. Thank goodness we had lots of rain early in the summer to fill up the ponds and reservoirs.
