The Things you see on the way to Walmart

St. Mary's Steeple getting some attention. When the leaves are off the trees in the winter, we can see this steeple from the top of the farm. A beacon for our community.

Baby Time on the Farm

No pictures - the camera is never with me at the right time........Have had a yard full of baby rabbits - Bear keeps bringing them in......she doesn't hurt them, just carries them around and brings them on the porch and puts them on her rug, and of course I don't know where to put them back. But after a good talking to, she has learned to leave them alone.
Also, I bought a wire cage trap to put in the big barn - the groundhogs have set up residence, and I really don't care to shoot them, so decided maybe I could catch them and replace them down on Crosley's (or someplace else)........anyway, I go to the barn every morning and two mornings let out Bunny (the cat) and yesterday an old mother possum with about umteen babies hanging on her, which I turned loose under the corn crib. Right now the groundhogs are eating in the soybean field, and aren't interested in my bated trap. Oh well.........

Out on the Muscatatuck

Thursday evening, after supper, the kids decided it was a good time to take the boat up the river.......but......we couldn't get the motor started - Bill wasn't familiar with the boat, and I had forgotten .......SO.......after a call to Andy - "Where is the choke?" it started right off......The river is still muddy from all the rain Wednesday, and up a little, but the evening was very nice.

Finally - Here we go........

A Lazy Summer Day

Nothing new happening on the farm. Biologists have been here this week checking for "Endangered Bats" up above the barns on the river bluffs .....they come late in the evening and stay until before dawn. Don 't know what they are finding - they are gone when I get up. I am sure they are finding lots of deer and turkeys, coyotes, and goodness knows what else. I have found that these people love to come to the farm - I think they look for a reason, and they just kinda get lost out here. At any rate, I'm sure we will find something to divert a new highway bi-pass......maybe some Indian mounds, hmmmmm.

Found a new web-site. Has instructions for about anything one would want to know how to do....... http://www.ehow.com/ Check it out.

Happy Birthday Bill

Bob's older brother, Bill, will be 100 years old July 11th! We all are thankful for his contribution to our country - he served in the Navy during WW II ........now lives in California close to his grandchildren.

I looked through pictures, and found this picture of one of their last family get-togethers. On the left is Bill, then Nell, Rose, Millard Jr. (Junie), Geneva, Bob and Zella. One by one, they all have gone, and only Bill is left.

We all wish him the best - Quite a family!
