Cleaning out the "Old House"

I finally have "bit the bullet" - and started cleaning out the old farm house. Have an accumulation - some left over from the antique shows Bob and I did years ago...but it has kinda piled up, and I just keep buying and piling up. Anyway, I rented a space at Exit 76 (up at the 65/31 Intersecion) and taking things up there. I have my "Whimsie" stand set up - they usually pay my expenses and booth rent. Will see......Anyway, been busy - and things are selling. A new market.......

The farm is greening up - have been picking up sticks and limbs, getting ready for mowing. The daffodils are beautiful this Spring - more prolific than ever. Guess the 12-12-12 I spread over the flowers and trees the first of March has helped.

I have also opened the barn windows - time for the Barn Martins to be coming home soon. I notice my Wrens are building a nest here in the yard - in an old mailbox here in the flowers.

Spring is here!

Another Old Treasure For My Collection

Haven't posted for awhile - been busy, but nothing noteworthy. But......yesterday, I found an old, old quilt that needed to be added to my collection. Jeanie had found it on the Hghway 127 Trip last Fall, down Kentucky way, and had just brought it to her shop here in town. Anyway, there were a lot of my family names on it - which I am sure are not related, none-the-less, caught my eye......the "Christy" name was my step-dad's , the "Duncan" name was my Aunt Jessie's last name.....and down in the corner is a "Vernon" name.....and of course, the "Bettie" caught my eye. It is like reading a who's who.

There are names embroidered all over, and the dates 1904 in several places, and somewhere, "Mt. Sterling, Ky.".......the most names and dates I have ever found on a quilt! I brought it home, sewed a sleeve on the back to hang it, and it is now displayed in the Dining Room. Fun to read!
